When it comes to stopping Brexit, it’s the Liberal Democrats leading the charge

The union flag flying next to the EU flag.

With a Prime Minister pandering to the extremists on the right of her party; delivering up the most divisive, extreme version of Brexit imaginable and Corbyn's Labour Party sitting on its hands, letting the bumbling Tories off the hook - we are needed more than ever.

The Liberal Democrats are the only political party in the UK offering a different, brighter future when it comes to our relationship with Europe.

Since becoming our leader in the summer, Vince has been quite clear. Our goal is nothing less than an 'Exit from Brexit'.

Liberal Democrat members and supporters have responded to Vince's call with typical enthusiasm. And at 100,000 members strong, we're a campaigning force to be reckoned with.

Across the country, we've made ourselves heard at demonstrations; made ourselves seen at local street stalls and we've spoken at public meetings.

We've organised locally; delivered and handed out leaflets and been active online. And we spoke to more than a million voters last year - a massive achievement on its own.

Our hard work is paying off. We're starting to shift opinion. Giving people a vote on the final Brexit deal has never been more popular.

After all, the Tories gave people the first say on Brexit. Why are they so afraid to give them the final say?

Over the coming weeks Lib Dem Peers will be fighting tooth and nail to legislate for a vote on the deal as the Withdrawal Bill makes its way through the Lords.

We can make a massive impact here, not just on securing a final say for the people on Brexit, but also defeating the Government on their more extreme proposals for negotiating Brexit.

As campaigners, we need to seize this opportunity too.

Many of us are campaigning hard to elect more Liberal Democrats to our local councils in May and it's brilliant to see how many of you are integrating these local campaigns with our campaign to stop Brexit.

One way many local campaigns are already doing this is by making a particular effort with local EU citizens. EU citizens are eligible to vote in local elections - in fact, for many of them, it will be their one and only chance to have a say on Brexit at the ballot box.

We're launching a program to make sure they know that - and if you're running for election in may, make sure you sign up: libdems.org.uk/bulk-buy-eu-citizens-ads-18

There's more information coming soon about how we can step up our campaigning this year.

In the meantime, keep doing what you're doing. It's working.

Together, we can deliver an Exit from Brexit.
