Liberal Democrats are the party of 'Remain'

The Liberal Democrats are proud to be the party for Europe. We believe in the values and vision of the European Union. We are also convinced that EU membership offers UK citizens a great deal.

That's why our priority is to stop Brexit. But we cannot stop it on our own. We need your help. If you want to stop Brexit, please support Liberal Democrats across the UK.

If we fail to stop Brexit, we must fight for the next best thing: the least harmful Brexit possible.

That would mean keeping us in the EU Single Market and Customs Union. It would deliver many of the benefits enjoyed by members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the European Economic Area (EEA). It would also leave open the possibility of the UK rejoining the EU at some point.

This so called 'soft' Brexit would still be hard. It would not be as good as staying in the EU. But we have to be realistic. If we leave, we must minimise the harm to our economy and hard working families.

A 'pragmatic' Brexit would not be perfect. But it would be much better than the hard Brexit called for by many extremists on both the left and the right.

Today we are the party of 'Remain'. We will continue campaigning to remain until we either stop Brexit - or leave on 29 March 2019. If we leave, we will become the party of 'Return', because we believe our nation's future is as a leading member of the European Union. Join us today if you share our vision.
